What is VoIP?

VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is a technology that allows phone and fax calls to be made over an internet connection, you may have heard about the cost-effectiveness of VoIP telephone solutions for residential and home office users, you may have also heard that VoIP isn’t a reliable solution for business because of issues with reliability, call quality and scalability. Well Troy Computing is here to set the record straight. VoIP does run over your internet connection and will most likely share this connection with your internet. Some facts that will help in your decision to enable the cost saving of VoIP;

At present if most of your calls may be travelling over VoIP, let me explain… you make a call from your office, this will go out on your old telephone line (Copper connection) to the telephone exchange, from the exchange it will most likely get transferred to VoIP but the service provide until the call reached the exchange at the recipient side where it will be transferred back to the of telephone system (copper line).

  3. VoIP calls are poor quality: This was true of the earliest technology in VoIP, now VoIP customer can enjoy crystal-clear conversations that are on par with any traditional carrier.
  4. VoIP Service is unreliable: Individuals using VOIP for the calls reports no more dropped calls or service gaps than those using traditional cell phone or land line services.
